If You Eat Food, Read This
I have been looking at all of the "diets" that are out there, particularly the ones that target promoting health and battling chronic conditions (gluten-free, anti-inflammatory, psoriasis, diabetes, vedic, etc.). The common thread through all of these diet plans is consuming "high water content foods". Which is predominantly fruits and vegetables. I believe the raw vegan diet, though one of the most restrictive, is the most ideal.
After having spent a year on the gluten-free diet, my advice to anyone wanting to improve on their health would be to pick something and stick with it. Even if you don't have a "good reason" to stop eating gluten or meat, or non-organic, or high-fructose corn syrup, cutting something out of your diet will force you to stop and think about whatever is on your plate. This is the key.
You can't trust food labeling as it is regulated by the same government agency regulating pharmaceuticals. Many of the items presented to us as "food" are nothing more than poison. We need to learn for ourselves how to tell the difference.
If cancer and heart disease can be cured by your diet, which many argue has been done, then it is also true that your diet can cause cancer and heart disease as well. In my personal opinion, this means food corporations are the leading cause of death in the United States. After that, we are left with the messy picture of medical mistakes and drug deaths, which leaves medicine as the #3 cause of death.
This article goes as far to argue that medical errors are already the #1 cause of death, but explains why you won't see it listed by the CDC.
Understanding you are in control of what you put in your body is a big step. Once you begin to take control, you will feel how powerful it is. You will be more in tuned with your body and it will ask you for what it needs.
Eat well and live well!

This post actually started out as a response to the comments from the article I posted yesterday. Just some more thoughts.
